Ryoko Fujino, returns old middle school as a newly-appointed teacher, and finds out that the 'trial' she and her classmates held on a mid-summer day has become something of a legend. She recounts what really happened then:
It all starts with a death of a student named Takuya Kashiwagi (Ayumu Mochizuki) on Christmas morning. A school committee and the police concluded it was a suicide, but a rumor about a muckracking letter spreads rapidly that Takuya's death was caused by Shunji Oide (Hiroya Shimizu), the school bully. The TV media picks up the case which causes another tragedy. Ryoko, fed up, abandons the school committe, which only tries to protect its own reputation. Ryoko decides to find the truth by opening a trial. (Concluded in Part 2)

かつて在籍していた中学校に教師として赴任した藤野涼子(藤野涼子)は、自分たちの行った校内裁判が伝説と化していることを知り、当時のことを回想する。記録的な大雪が降ったクリスマスの朝、学校の校庭で2年生の男子生徒・柏木卓也（望月歩）が遺体となって発見される。転落死したと見られ学校と警察は自殺と断定するが、彼は同じ学年の不良生徒・大出俊次(清水尋也）によって殺されたという目撃者を名乗る者からの告発状が届き、波紋を呼ぶ。マスコミの報道が熱を帯び混乱が深まる中、犠牲者が一人、また一人と増えていった。涼子は一人、保身ばかりを考える大人たちに見切りをつけ、死の真相をつきとめようと動きはじめる……。
